The establishment of MacREU R’side at UCR took the help and support of many people. Several faculty from Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering and Chemical Engineering came together in the Materials Science and Engineering program and some of us pledged to offer research opportunities to MacREU students. MacREU is guided by Ludwig Bartels, Professor of Chemistry and Materials Science & Engineering and by Kevin Esterling, Professor of Political Sciences. Rebecca Ryan provides administrative support and handles most financial aspects of this program. Each year we hire a Director of Participant's Experience, in most years an alumna or alumnus of the previous year.
