The establishment of MacREU R’side at UCR took the help and support of many people. Several faculty from Chemistry, Phyiscs, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering and Chemical Engineering came together in the Materials Science and Engineering program and some of us pledged to offer research opportunities to MacREU students. The Deans of the College of Natural and Agricultural Science and the Bourns College of Engineering pledged financial support to certain aspects of this project. The supervisors of the various research facilities on campus offer training to the students (see the Curriculum heading). Administrators and researchers from all over campus offered their insight and expertise in setting up research projects, in writing proposals, in administering federal funding and in providing the kind of environment that will stimulate and captivate the project participants during the 10-week period.
